Isa announced last week that he wanted to go rock climbing. So a quick google search led me to Brooklyn Boulders, an amazing indoor climbing center. We hired a staff member to belay him for an hour and he took off! He loved the ropes, the harness, the shoes, the walls, everything. He was able to get right up to the top about 5 times; if he fell off, the belay caught him before he lost ground and he was able to get right back on. Even as a beginner, he experienced a great sense of accomplishment which makes him want to go back again. Eduardo and I were so proud of him!
The weekend before, Isa attended a friend’s birthday party and he and a classmate, Sean, got their Spiderman on.

Isa has been showing much more interest in Esmé lately. He especially likes to cuddle with her right before storytime on my bed. Esmé adores the attention. Isa only has to look at her and she’s smiling and laughing. I am filled with an overwhelming love when I see my two precious children playing with and enjoying each other.

Busy, Busy, Busy. That’s Esmé in a nutshell. At 6 months, she’s rolling frontwards and backwards. She can turn herself completely around in a circle on her belly. She can reach and scootch and wiggle around, not crawling yet. She can sit up well, but inevitably falls over to one side or the other. She is strong! Her legs make a powerful thump on the changing table for effect when you’re trying to get her dressed. And her hands are lighting-speed fast! She can reach out and grab a fistful of food off your plate before you even know what’s happened. She’s sharp too. She watches everything. If there’s something in your hand that she wants, she’ll track it with her eyes until its out of sight. She’s a great eater, watching with mournful longing every morsel you put in your mouth, poor thing. She sleeps beautifully; down between 7-8pm, nursing around 12 or 1am, sleeping until about 7am. She takes it easy on her old, tired, working mom. She is adorably sweet and talking up a storm, saying “Da da da da” continuously. And of course, she is deliciously gorgeous.
